The Durham Public Schools (DPS) District Goals drive the vision and mission established by the Board of Education. The primary goal is to ensure achievement of high academic performance by all students. In order to achieve this most important goal, the Board of Education acknowledges three additional essential goals. These goals are to:

Ensure high quality staff and leadership district-wide and at every school; Ensure efficient and effective business systems operations; and, Ensure school climate and culture that foster well-being of students, staff and community.
These goals help to guarantee that every child in every school is on track at every stage of their DPS career to graduate prepared for success in postsecondary education and employment.
